Is a home warranty worth the cost?

Major home systems and appliances can be expensive to repair or replace. The right home warranty plan can save homeowners hundreds—even thousands of dollars—in covered repair and replacement costs. Additionally, with a home warranty, homeowners typically don’t have to stress over finding a reputable repairman. A qualified service technician will be dispatched when the service request is processed, though service timelines may vary.

Is a home inspection required? No, a home inspection is not required. While a home warranty does not cover pre-existing conditions prior to the effective date, Old Republic does not require a home inspection before purchase, and there are no age limits on your home!
What appliances are covered under a home warranty?

Many of the home’s major systems and appliances are covered with every Old Republic home warranty plan, including electrical and heating systems, toilets, water heater, dishwasher, oven/range/cooktop, kitchen refrigerator, and more. Deluxe and Elite plans include the washer, dryer, air conditioner and cooler, faucets, showerheads, garage door parts, and more.

What is Optional Coverage?

Optional Coverage is additional coverage homeowners can select  to enhance their plan for an additional fee. Optional Coverage includes items such as Pre-season HVAC Tune-up, Limited Roof Leak Repair, Swimming Pool/Spa Equipment, Well Pump, Guest Homes, and more. Optional Coverage choices must be selected at the time of purchase and cannot be added after the initial plan fee payment.

Can I renew my home warranty each year? Yes. If you choose auto-renewal, your plan will renew automatically at the then-current rate. You can cancel or change your renewal preference at any time by contacting us. Renewing ensures continuous protection for your home’s systems and appliances, with no gap in protection.
Is there a trade call fee for home warranty claims? Yes. A trade call fee (TCF) is similar to a doctor’s co-pay. The plan holder pays the TCF when they place a service request for a covered item. The TCF amount is outlined in the plan holder’s Declaration of Coverage.
What’s the difference between a home warranty and homeowners insurance (HOI)? A home warranty and homeowners insurance (HOI) serve different purposes. HOI typically covers sudden and accidental damage or loss from covered perils such as fire, storm, or theft. A home warranty is a service contract that helps offset repair and replacement costs for covered home systems and appliances that fail due to normal wear and use. Together, they can provide more comprehensive protection for your home.
